Watson-Ellison Foundation Leaders Honored by the California State Senate
Recognizing Excellence in Alzheimer’s Advocacy, Leadership, and Community Impact
The Watson-Ellison Foundation is proud to announce that Founder Anjanette Ellison and Director Tamara Carlson have been officially recognized by the California State Senate for their outstanding leadership, service, and dedication to families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The recognition was presented during the Solano County 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Ceremony in Fairfield, California.
This honor, awarded by Senator Christopher Cabaldon (Third Senate District), highlights the tremendous impact that both Anjanette and Tamara have made in advancing Alzheimer’s education, caregiver support, and community-based therapeutic programming.
A Recognition Rooted in Service and Advocacy
Anjanette Ellison – Founder, Watson-Ellison Foundation
Anjanette was recognized for her commitment, leadership, and advocacy on behalf of Alzheimer’s families throughout Solano County and beyond. Her work through the Foundation reflects a deep personal mission—shaped by her own caregiving experiences—to ensure that families receive the education, dignity, and support they deserve.
Her efforts to create accessible community programs, increase awareness, and reduce stigma truly “demonstrate the spirit of service and advocacy,” as stated by the Senate.
Tamara Carlson – Director, Watson-Ellison Foundation
Tamara was honored for her dedication to improving early diagnosis, expanding access to therapeutic care, and supporting caregivers through vital programs offered by the Foundation. Her work accelerates the mission of helping families recognize symptoms earlier, access meaningful interventions, and receive the emotional and practical tools needed throughout the Alzheimer’s journey.
Her recognition reflects her unwavering passion for community collaboration and caregiver empowerment.
Strengthening Alzheimer’s Support in Underserved Communities
The recognitions underscore the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to bridging critical gaps in Alzheimer’s care—especially in underserved and minority communities that historically experience unequal access to support and early detection.
Through:
-
education and awareness campaigns,
-
music therapy and evidence-based interventions,
-
caregiver mental health resources, and
-
collaboration with local partners,
the Watson-Ellison Foundation continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact.
A Milestone for the Foundation — and a Promise for the Future
Receiving recognition from the California State Senate is more than a moment of honor—it is a testament to the work being done daily to uplift families facing one of life’s most challenging diagnoses.
The Foundation remains committed to its mission:
empowering families, transforming care, and ensuring that no one walks the Alzheimer’s journey alone.
As we celebrate this achievement, we also look toward the future with renewed passion, determination, and hope.
